Hi! I’m Amy Johnson and I love organizing spaces!

Amy Johnson

I love to organize and create spaces where there is “a place for everything and everything in its place.”  It’s one of my favorite quotes from Ben Franklin and I’ve made it my cornerstone in my own life and in helping my clients.

Think about your kitchen.
There is a drawer with a holder for spoons, knives, and forks.  There are cupboards for dishes, cups, and glasses.  And there is a place for pots and pans.…right?

The rest of your home, workspace or garage can be organized the same way.

How did I become an organizer?

For many years, I’ve helped family members with organizing and decluttering.  I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and I’m also a NAPO (National Association of Productivity & Organizing) Member, so starting my own organizing business was a dream come true. And, I have found that one can face life’s challenges better when organized.

How my life got messy

In November 2017 my husband of 15 years was diagnosed with stage-4 colon cancer.  We were living in Rochester, MN with our two children ages 12 and 9. On March 1, 2018 my husband died and my life and the life of my two young children changed forever. In my worst nightmare I never thought I’d be a widow at age 41 and raising two children alone.

These experiences taught me how difficult it is to keep life orderly when life takes a turn.

The summer of 2018 was stressful and overwhelming.  While my own life was in turmoil, I was helping my parents declutter their home in Burnsville, MN.  I helped organize 3 garage sales with them in Burnsville as well as a moving sale at my home in Rochester where I sold most of our furniture and belongings. In September 2018 I sold my house and moved with my two children (and one dog) to live with my parents for 9 months.  I was able to take a leave from working, but I knew that I’d soon need my own home and a way to provide for my family.

So, with the blessing of my late husband, the encouragement from my family and some close friends, I found the courage to step out and begin to help others organize their lives!

Do what you love!

I prayed a lot those days. “God, what do I do now?  How do I move forward?  How do I take care of my family?” My late husband used to say, “Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.” One day, in 2015, he saw a car with a bumper sticker advertising a professional organizing business.  He took a picture of it and texted it to me and said, “You should do this!”  That began my inquiry into this service.  Organizing was what I loved to do.

I think John is cheering me on.  I can hear him saying, “You’re doing good work, Dear.” That was something he often said to me.  We were a great team together.  We appreciated each other’s hard work to bring order to our lives and to share life’s responsibilities of work and family.

Has your life gotten messy?

Uncertainty

No one can know what challenges and joys this life will lead us through. Sometimes those life challenges affect us in ways where your home becomes a cluttered mess. Maybe you feel hopeless and don’t know where to even start.
